STUDY Teleconsultation

Preferences of the general adult population for teleconsultation by video-conference or telephone with a general practitioner

Dear Sir/Madam,

If you're reading this, you're interested in our study!

We are researchers in health economics at the University of Montpellier and we are interested in the preferences of the adult population for teleconsultation by video-conferencing or by telephone with a general practitioner.

This study is aimed solely at adults living in mainland France.

Its aim is to document the practices of the general population with regard to the modalities of teleconsultation in general medicine: face-to-face consultation and teleconsultation by video-conference or telephone. The results of this scientific study will provide healthcare professionals and public decision-makers with answers as to what really counts for the population in their choice of consultation mode in general medicine.

Details of the study process

Your participation is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. It consists in taking part in a discussion group during which your opinions regarding teleconsultation will be discussed. The discussion group will take place on the premises of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montpellier (Port-Marianne district, Montpellier) at the following address:

Site Richter, Avenue Raymond Dugrand, 34960 Montpellier

Your responses to the focus group will enable us to build a larger-scale online survey to study the adult population's preferences for teleconsultation.

The focus group will consist of several stages:

  1. Description of the study, its objective and the terms of the subject;
  2. Free and spontaneous discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of teleconsultation compared to face-to-face consultation;
  3. Presentation and discussion of teleconsultation studies conducted elsewhere.

Following the focus group, you will be contacted to answer a short questionnaire (approx. 5 minutes).

The focus group will last approximately 1h30 and each participant will receive a 30 euro voucher in the form of a Carrefour gift card. You will be informed in advance of the focus group of the method of payment and the payment deadline.
